The Body's Memory System/ Trauma

This involves exploring the neuroscience of Traumatic stress, fear, terror and anxiety. The memory system involved in the sensory system and the non- verbal aspects of trauma is often referred to as implicit memory. It's also called body or sensory memory. Somatic re-experiencing of sensations, feelings that drive continuous impulsive and disorganized behavior. Treatment involves Mind - Body integration techniques for healing Trauma, PTSD and healing the complex losses of Trauma.
Techniques used in Trauma Recovery
Techniques Include: THE NEUROSCIENCE OF TRAUMA including: affect regulation, somatic awareness of re-experiencing the trauma and focusing on sensations and feelings. Awareness of learned helplessness and loss of agency. Managing dis-regulated affect and fear regulation. Mindful enhancement of affect regulation. Self soothing techniques to soothe and calm the nervous system.
Mindfulness Training for Information Processing of thoughts, feelings, sensations, perceptions and reactions to events.
Somatic interventions to help the body release the trauma. Sensory integration techniques to release the Fear and dissociation.
Impulse control and Distress tolerance Techniques using DBT. Reprocessing and transforming trauma creating a coherent story and processing and metabolizing the Trauma story, Guided imagery with healing techniques.
Embodied Mindfulness: A SOMATIC APPROACH to distinguishing the past from the present.
Regulating the Nervous System of a traumatized patient. Instead of Talk Therapy, elements of Somatic Experiencing are used. This awareness helps patients to attend to their body sensations and learn to discriminate between physical and psychological reactions that are reactivated by anything that symbolically represents trauma. The Embodied Memory of a traumatized past is set on "High Alert" or "Shut Down" and is not focused on the present moment but rather is living in the past. A reoccurring traumatized space, that is not in the present reality, consequently will overreact to current situations.
Psycho education : Post Traumatic Growth and Healing, Resilience, Self Esteem and Empowerment, self efficacy, mastery and Agency.
Renewed sense of Meaning to life.

The Addictive Family, The Legacy of Trauma
Couples Therapy
Couples Feedback Loop, Neurobiology of Couples, The Unconscious collusion of the couple, creating a positive powerful couple, systemic and communication based approaches along with attachment dynamics that function as a guide to underlying mental health issues and create pathways to health, resilience, positive change and secure attachment. Examination of how intergenerational patterns are repeated in the current relationship. Diagnostic assessment of couples conflict and the unconscious evocation in both partners of unresolved conflicts and trauma that belong to past generations. The unconscious collusion of the couple is defined by their repetitive conflicts. Systemic and psychodynamic strategies resolve these impasses.
